New Year’s Resolutions that Rock

It’s New Year’s Eve, everyone and their mothers are setting resolutions they don’t intend to keep. The ‘ol “lose weight” and “save money” are getting old don’t you think? Why not think small this year…and maybe more realisticlly? Here is a list of resolutions we think rock!

Breathe

Make the resolution to remember to stop in your busy days and BREATHE. Take in fresh air, pause and appreciate the things around you.

Adopt a Grandparent

Looking for a good deed to do in 2015? This is definitely one. Adopt a grandparent- wether it’s your own, a friends or from a home. Seniors tell the best stories, offer the warmest friendships and teach us great life lessons. And in return, your companionship is the greatest gift of all.

Take Long Walks

Did you know that walking is a great way to de-stress? Make it a goal to take a stroll every day. Your body will thank you for it.

Read a Book

You know that book you’ve been wanting to read? Read it! Download it on your phone, tablet or get the old fashioned hard copy. Now that you’re in the goal making mood, you may get to read it afterall.

Listen

Has anyone ever told you that you never listen to them? Or that they feel ignored? What a great way to work on yourself with this one. The best way to better ourselves is to fix our flaws. Take the time to listen to that certain person or people in general. When you listen, you really do learn.

Start that Hobby you’ve been wanting to

Now’s the best time to start that hobby you’ve been putting off. Maybe it’s learning to sew, or playing the guitar. Whatever it may be, go for it!

Laugh Out Loud

Don’t live life so seriously. Literally laugh out loud. Watch a funny movie or spend time with people who make you laugh. Laughter is the cure to anything.

Learn to Knit

Pay it Forward

Do good deeds in 2015. Pay it forward by doing small acts of kindness. For example, taking your eldery neighbor to the super market, walking your sick friend’s dog, or even giving someone a compliment.

Re-decorate

New year, new look! Take on a home decor project for 2015 like giving your bedroom or office a new look, for example.

Sign Up for a 5k

Get yourself ready for a challenge! Take on a walk, run, tri-atholon maybe? Prepare yourself for a new adventure this year.

Visit a Foreign Country

Making travel plans? Go somewhere new. Experience new food, culture, people.

Volunteer for a Good Cause

This is always a great way to start the new year. Volunteer for a good cause. Start in your local area. It can be as simple as helping at your child’s school or helping plan a church function.

Learn a new Language

Spend more time with loved ones

We live busy lives these days and sometimes our loved ones pay for it. Take the time this year to be with those you hold near and dear. You don’t get that time back, remember that.

Learn to Waltz

Take a Vacation

All work no play in 2014? Plan for a getaway this year. Emails, phone calls and meetings can take a break. You come first, remember that. You will come back refreshed and ready to take on the world!

 Eat Healthy

Re-vamp your diet. Eat healthier, cleaner and better. Get yourself that juicer you wanted, get yourself some good viatmins and get to eating good.

Relax

(see Take a Vacation- minus the getaway. You can plan a stay-cation as well. The point is just to RELAX!)

De-clutter

Out with the old crap 2014 held you down with! Let’s get out those bins: Toss, Keep, Donate! My mother always says when you de-clutter and organize your home, your life also becomes de-cluttered. To this day, I find that to be very true.

Plant a Tree

Do something good for the environment. Plant a tree or maybe a few. It will do the Earth good.

Keep your Promises

Hmmm…are you one of those people who make promises and aren’t great at keeping them? Here’s another “fix your flaw” type resolution. Make promises and keep them this year.

Wake up Earlier

If you’re like me, you will sleep every extra minute you can afford to… and then rush your morning. This year, opt to wake up a little earlier. Enjoy those extra ten minutes at the table eating your breakfast (wait for it…) sitting down! Take a morning stroll or apply that perfect winged eye- the possiblities are endless!

Savor every Moment

Don’t rush through 2015 like you did 2014. Savor each moment. This goes back to Listen, Relax, Spending more time with loved ones and Laughing out loud.

Get more Rest
