It’s not about anyone else. At the end of the day, it’s all about you. Practicing self-care with make you more confident, feel loved, and give you positive energy. With all of these great things, you can take on anything! Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup, mija.
Self-care Develops a Healthy Mind
When you do things for yourself- this can be something as small as taking a 5-minute walk while taking deep breaths or soaking in the tub- you clear your mind up a bit. When a person feels sad, the first thing the doctor recommends is short walks, breathing and light exercise. It’s because these activities release stress. And let’s be real. most people are under some sort of stress so the more we practice these little self-care habits, the better we can be.
Tips on Practicing Self-Care
Now that we’ve covered why it’s important, let’s discuss how to practice self-care. As I mentioned before, all you need is a little bit of time. You may be surprised at how little time and effort is needed. And hopefully, you’ll get to it 😉
- Take short walks
- Drink more water (8 glasses recommended)
- Listen to your favorite music while laying down with your eyes closed
- Light a candle and read a book or meditate
- Take your lunch break, even better- take it outdoors
- Exercise daily (try the 7-minute workout)
- Learn to say NO
- Lay down and facemask for 5-10 minutes
- Get more sleep by going to bed earlier
- Take your vitamins
- Have a cup of tea
- Write in a journal
- Do something you love- art, visit the theater, go hiking, visit friends
You Owe it to Yourself
Last but not least, lose the guilt. You owe it to yourself to be happier, healthier and more relaxed. Put yourself first. If you can’t love yourself, then who can?
