Jazmin Brown : A New Generation of Fashion Design

I recently had the pleasure of chatting with a talented young lady, Jazmin Brown. Miss Brown is a model and a fashion designer at the young age of 13, but above all, she is ambitious, a role model for girls her age today, and has a beautiful heart.

Here is our interview with Jazmin Brown:

JF: What inspired you to begin designing clothing?

Jazmin: Being a model and walking for many different designers inspired me to become my own designer. I knew that I can do it also.

JF: You’re only in your teens, at what age exactly did you learn to design and sew?

Jazmin: I wanted to be a designer from the age of 7. However, about two years ago at the of 11, I decided to take my career to the next level. I am still learning how to sew. If its a big job I sit with someone to make sure that I am doing it correctly. The designs are all mine though. I am currently, taking classes at FIT every Saturday.

JF: What has your biggest accomplishment been so far in your career as a designer?

Jazmin: My biggest accomplishment so far is having the honor of showing my line on News12 with Della Crews, at New Jersey Fashion Week, and at a red carpet charity event with Miss Teen America.

JF: Any future plans? Projects? Collaborations?

Jazmin: I do have future goals…of course going to college, putting my line in stores. I am working on a few other projects, but thats a secret! lol..its gonna be out really soon! I am also working hard with my non profit Jazmin’s Deztani’. I want to raise money to help children achieve what ever positive goals that they may have.

JF: Name a designer that inspires you.

Jazmin: Vera Wang. I love her beautiful gowns!

JF: What’s your ultimate goal in life?

Jazmin: My ultimate goal is to show my line all over the world. Also, one day i would love to open up my own chain of boutiques. My goal is to open up one by the time I am 16 years old.

JF: What would you tell other young girls who wish to obtain a career in fashion design?

I would tell other girls make sure whatever you do your grades in school comes first. Also, to be patient. Take your time, learn, and always be able to take peoples advice. Never let anyone discourage you. If you want it, claim it!

JF: Besides, fashion design, do you have any other passions?

Jazmin: Besides fashion designing, I still have a love for modeling, and I would love to teach an art class after college.

JF: How can someone view your work or place an order for your designs?

Jazmin: You can connect with me on www.jazminbrown.com or contact@jazminbrown.com

Jazmin Brown will also showcase her Prom / Sweet 16 collection at the Central NJ Prom/ Sweet 16 Expo 2012. For more info: http://cnjpromexpo.blogspot.com/
